Celtic League determines Heineken Cup seeds
European Rugby Cup – May 29, 2006
Ulster’s reward for their Celtic League triumph is a top seeding for next season’s Heineken Cup. Coach Mark McCall’s know how important seeding is in Europe. “The holy grail remains the Heineken Cup and we are hopeful with our seeding that we might get a good group” said McCall. Edinburgh completed a positive season finishing in fifth place in the league and securing the top Scottish seed for the Heineken Cup. The top Welsh seed goes to Cardiff Blues finishing higher any other Welsh team in the league. The final game of the round was played on Saturday and the celebrations continued in Limerick as Munster beat the Cardiff Blues 37-8 securing the Irish province third place in the league kicking off another victory party after their momentous Heineken Cup victory last week.
