Come on you reds is the roar from young Kerry rugby supporters
The Kingdom – Jun 29, 2006
With Munster’s amazing win in the Heineken Cup final still fresh in young fans’ memories the province’s rugby coach and development officer for Kerry Ray Gadsen brought the glittering silverware to the doorsteps of young Munster fans around the county. And it was a reception befitting of European champions as fanatical Kerry Munster supporters welcomed the trophy cup to the county. Just like their heroes many of the national school pupils around Kerry wore the famous red jersey as Gadsen stopped off at numerous schools during his two-day visit. And of course there was an almighty roar when the gleaming Heineken Cup was shown to the young Munster fans. The countywide tour took in south Kerry national schools such as Kilgarvan Lisivegeen Ballycasheen Loreto Presentation Monastery Fossa Faha Two Mile Coolick Kilcummin Anablath and Tiernaboul… With rugby popularity on the increase in Kerry this is just what the sport needed as they got a chance to touch hold and have their picture taken with the world renowned cup. That’s the very same trophy that Ronan ‘Gara Paul ‘Connell Peter Stringer and co heroically won after an amazing triumph in the final against French side Biarritz. n that historical May day thousands of Kerry fans swapped their traditional green and gold for the Munster red as they thronged Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium to watch Declan Kidney’s men finally get their hands on a trophy that had eluded them thus far. Memories are made of this.

It will be tough but that is what you expect at this level. “We are more familiar with Montpellier having played them in each of the last two seasons.
Historical news Losing pants in ambush marketing
Marketing Web – Jun 29, 2006
Marketingweb 29 June 2006Hundreds of Dutch soccer fans had to go without their trousers in order to watch their favourite team play at the German World Cup. This was the price they had to pay for an ambush marketing tactic by Dutch beer Bavaria. Bavaria which is not an official sponsor of the World Cup had produced orange lederhosen (orange being the Dutch team?s official colour) with its name printed on it. Heineken Holland?s biggest brewery is the team?s official sponsor. Dutch fans were reportedly made to remove the baggy trousers ? with giant beer-size pockets a lion?s tail and the beer logo displayed prominently ? as they entered the stadium for the Netherlands-Ivory Coast match last Friday. The decision to strip fans was taken by FIFA which has long tried to counter ambush marketing at the World Cup. “We are not going to tell individuals what to wear everyone is free to wear what they want” FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler told Associated Press… “We are not going to tell individuals what to wear everyone is free to wear what they want” FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler told Associated Press. “But if we have evidence there is a company behind this and 100000 people are being equipped accordingly and there is a visible ambush on the television screens then we have to take action. But guess who wins here? Bavaria got huge amounts of publicity out of the stunt while Heineken got lost in the orange blur of media headlines. © Moneyweb Holdings Limited 1997-2007 | About Marketingweb | Contact Marketingweb | Advertise with us | FAQ.
Irvine hints at Bates switch
Edinburgh Evening News – Jun 30, 2006
So far as Steve Bates is concerned we would be very reluctant to move him from somewhere he wants to stay. “If it did come down to two Steve Bates is obviously very highly-regarded but I like to think more positively [in terms of retaining all three teams]. ” Fans have been clamouring for months to ensure that the Gunners play on Fridays and offering assurances Irvine said: “The only non-Friday games for Edinburgh will be in the Heineken (European) Cup because of the broadcasting agreement. All Celtic League games will be on Friday and we are working closely with Setanta. Scottish rugby should be structured so that the pro-teams play on a Friday and Saturdays belong to the clubs.
