As with Bristol last year newly promoted Quins will look to establish themselves back in the Premiership although it would not be too surprising if Quins sneaked qualification for Europe along the way. That too will remain the private ambition of Northampton Bath Worcester London Irish Newcastle Bristol and Saracens. The Heineken Cup is where money prestige and job security lie. Their public pronouncements will bang on about silverware and such-like and Northampton under the shrewd guidance of Paul Grayson one of the better coaches in the Premiership might finally mount a season-long fight in that regard but the rest aren’t that well equipped to frighten Wasps Gloucester Sale and Leicester. Those four will fight it out with Sale slightly ahead of the other three. Sale will find it much harder to hang on to their title. Second-season syndrome will stalk them all the way.
