Robinson gets mixed news as Forrester injures knee
Telegraph.co.uk – Oct 28, 2006
Forrester has been forced out of Gloucester’s Heineken Cup clash against Agen at Kingsholm today and will undergo a scan on Monday after reporting a knee problem in training this week. While Tait is certain to be selected against the All Blacks barring a flare-up of his thigh muscle problem Forrester was much less certain to make the starting XV though a place on the bench certainly beckoned. Robinson is bracing himself for a nerve-wracking weekend with many of England’s 30-man squad involved in the second round of the Heineken Cup. nly on Monday morning will he know exactly who up for selection. For the second consecutive week much of his interest will centre on Gloucester who need to bounce back from their defeat to Leinster in Dublin last week if they are to sustain a serious interest in the Heineken Cup… And though fly-half Ryan Lamb just missed out on making the squad he is probably the next in the pecking order at fly-half and can cement that status this afternoon for a Gloucester side who introduce Luke Narraway and Jake Boer to the back row and move Iain Balshaw on to the wing. “We obviously understand the importance of this match and it should be a fantastic occasion” coach Dean Ryan said. “To have Heineken Cup rugby back at Kingsholm is special. “It is great to have lly back in the squad because he is a fantastic young player and it gives us plenty of attacking options. I thought our young backs did extremely well last weekend against Leinster and we need to take the lessons learnt from that game into another extremely physical environment against Agen. ” Leicester like Gloucester can afford no slip-up this weekend if they want to stay competitive in their pool. A trip to Cardiff however is a particularly tricky assignment with the Blues in upbeat mood after winning in Bourgoin last week.

?Two out of two is obviously the aim and it would be a fantastic boost for us but we know we are going to have to be at our very best tomorrow. ?Then of course we?ve got to play back-to-back games against Agen which will be tough. ?Girvan Dempsey will make his 50th Heineken Cup appearance for Leinster while Scotland international Chris Paterson returns for Edinburgh. Martin Corry has vowed Leicester will not ?fold? as they prepare for tomorrow?s must-win clash with Cardiff. The Tigers opened their Heineken Cup campaign with a 21-19 defeat by champions Munster at Welford Road and Corry knows they must triumph in the Welsh capital to keep their tournament alive. ?The winner of our group has got to go five and one to reach the knock-out stages. We have had our one loss ? now we?ve got to win all our remaining games? said the England back row… ?Girvan Dempsey will make his 50th Heineken Cup appearance for Leinster while Scotland international Chris Paterson returns for Edinburgh. (From Irish Independent) FR Munster coach Declan Kidney whose coaching persona resembles a sometimes impenetrable confection of asceticism and acumen this evening’s challenge against Bourgoin presents him with buckets of material for him to betray his extreme modesty. Like the millionaire who can feign the supreme indifference when confronted by poverty or ignorance Kidney has played a blinder this week in trying to convince anyone who’ll listen that the bedraggled visitors to Thomond Park this week are the real deal.
