    Crocked: Cueto misses out
    Telegraph.co.uk – Nov 1, 2006
Cueto the Sale three-quarter will be replaced by Wasps’ Paul Sackey who joins scrum-half Shaun Perry and centre Anthony Allen in winning his first cap against the All Blacks. Cueto limped out of Sale’s Heineken Cup defeat to Neath-Swansea spreys 11 days ago and missed the home win over Calvisano last Friday. His injury is yet another blow to head coach Andy Robinson who has already lost Josh Lewsey Mathew Tait lly Barkley Mike Tindall and lly Morgan among the players who might have lined up in front of an anticipated crowd of 82000 at the newly-redeveloped Twickenham. Robinson has named his replacements for Sunday’s encounter and they include Sackey’s club-mate Mark van Gisbergen. Gloucester scrum-half Peter Richards and Leicester fly-half Andy Goode make up a trio of backs England may bring on. Forwards Stuart Turner the 34-year-old Sale prop his back-row team-mates Chris Jones and Magnus Lund and Bath hooker Lee Mears complete the seven on the bench but England will be praying for no further disruption.

‘Sullivan looks to blood new talent
    RTE.ie – Nov 1, 2006
‘All but one of the first choice line-up that won last season’s Triple Crown are included in the squad with Jerry Flannery the only absentee. The Munster hooker is expected to be out until Christmas with a shoulder injury so Frankie Sheahan and Rory Best will battle it out for the number two shirt. If Sheahan does make it into the starting XV he will have completed a remarkable comeback since sustaining a career-threatening neck injury while on Heineken Cup duty for Munster a year ago. Brian ‘Driscoll and Andrew Trimble are minor injury concerns but both are expected to be ready to face South Africa. ‘Driscoll suffered an ankle injury in training yesterday and sat out today’s session as a precautionary measure although he was able to do some light work. Andrew Trimble’s hamstring problem forced him to sit out training on Monday but he was fully involved in today’s drills. ‘Sullivan will name his starting line-up to face South Africa next Tuesday with matches against Australia and the Pacific Islands completing Ireland’s autumn schedule.

Perry and Allen asked to patch up England
    Telegraph.co.uk – Nov 1, 2006
England are to be captained by Martin Corry no surprise given that he has led his country with yeoman heart since taking over the armband 18 months ago. What should raise an eyebrow is that Corry will be on the blindside flank with Worcester back-row forward Pat Sanderson slotting into the captain’s customary slot at No 8. Might England have wanted to play Forrester there until a dodgy knee put paid to that way of thinking not to mention a flawed hesitant display in the Heineken Cup against Leinster? Sanderson has pace and a footballer’s instincts. Perry’s presence on the field is such that he has been nominated as one of three vice-captains with Charlie Hodgson and Ben Kay also on duty. “All three have a major impact on the way we play” the head coach Andy Robinson said. Perry is nobody’s pushover. He will not be cowed by winning his first cap at such a late age having decided to give professional rugby a full-time crack only a couple of seasons ago.

Henson to miss two Six Nations clashes
    Ireland nline – Nov 1, 2006
Grand Slam star Henson?s earliest possible return to the international arena will not be until February 26 when Wales tackle Lansdowne Road hosts Ireland. Although the spreys centre had a 72-day ban reduced by three weeks after a lengthy appeal hearing in Dublin last night he is still out of the Six Nations opener against world champions England early next month and Scotland?s visit to Cardiff eight days later. Henson was suspended for 10 weeks and two days after being cited and found guilty of elbowing Leicester prop Alex Moreno during a bitter Heineken Cup clash between the spreys and Tigers just before Christmas. Henson?s initial ban ran until March 6 but his likely comeback game will now be the spreys? Celtic League clash against Borders on February 17. The 23-year-old refused to comment as he left the hearing having played just three games this season due to a combination of injury and suspension. An spreys spokesman though mirrored Henson?s sense of frustration. ?It is still disappointing? he said.
