RTE.ie – Jan 31, 2007
Brennan the former Ireland lock was due to face the independent disciplinary panel in Dublin tomorrow. The 33-year-old was charged under Heineken Cup rules with allegedly assaulting Ulster supporter Patrick Bamford during Toulouse’s victory at the Stade Ernest Wallon on 21 January. However Brennan’s Toulouse team-mate Gareth Thomas will still have his disciplinary case heard tomorrow morning. The Welsh international is charged with engaging in ‘aggressive’ and ‘offensive’ behaviour towards supporters during the same controversial Heineken Cup match. Brennan’s legal team secured a 24-hour injunction – which expires at 2pm tomorrow – at Dublin’s High Court. The case is due to be mentioned in court again tomorrow.

?Gavin is a hugely talented player. He can play at 10 12 or 15 and is one of our best kickers especially punting the ball and he has been goal-kicking well too. ?I thought he played very well in the Heineken Cup games for the spreys recently. ?His kicking is amazing and you think some of his kicks in training are going to take off!?Jenkins will confirm his final team selection at 1.

Chabal comes in from cold for France
Telegraph.co.uk – Jan 31, 2007
Chabal has earned a reprieve from Bernard Laporte the French coach after his outstanding displays for Sale in the Heineken Cup pool games. Laporte has ignored Chabal since the November internationals two years ago but has chosen to give him a chance to add to his 40 caps after his dynamic displays in helping Sale win the Guinness Premiership title. He has criticised Chabal previously for playing in bursts and for conceding too many penalties. However the form of the Sale player has been more consistent in recent months and he has now a chance to gain a place in the World Cup. Laporte is committed to giving every player in a 40-man squad an opportunity over the coming weeks.
